Easter lily (Lilium longiflorum)
Beautiful trumpet shaped lily is called Easter lily because it blooms during Easter festival. it is heavily fragrant and fragrance is very sweet. in our climate it is perennial. If left in ground it appears back in October and continue to grow during winter months and blooms in month of April. Easter lily plant can grow up to height of 3 feet.
Easter lily bulbs can be forced for early blooms in February. For this purpose bulbs are lifted from ground after foliage dries and are kept in refrigerator for summer season and planted back in September.8 degree Celsius temperature is considered best for refrigeration. Weekly water during winter season is necessary for good growth.
